Privacy
The short version: I collect as little as I can, nothing is sold, and nothing is used for ads.
Analytics
If you accept, Google Analytics sets a couple of cookies (_ga and _ga_…) so I can see which pages get read, roughly where visitors come from, and what kind of device they use. I see totals, not people. Google’s advertising features are switched off.
If you decline, or never choose, Google Analytics doesn’t load and nothing is sent to Google. Your choice is remembered in your browser for a year. You can change it at any time: .
What Google does with the data it receives is covered by Google’s privacy policy.
The visitor counter
The number in the footer counts each visitor once a day, without cookies. Your IP address and browser are turned into a scrambled code that changes every day and can’t be reversed. The address itself is never stored, and the codes are deleted after two days.
The newsletter
If you subscribe to Beyond Your API, your email address is stored with Resend, the service that sends it, and used only to email you new posts. Every email has an unsubscribe link, or reply to any of them and I’ll remove you.
Embedded posts
Some articles include a LinkedIn post. Nothing loads from LinkedIn until you choose to open it; after that, LinkedIn’s own policy applies.
Hosting and your browser
The site’s hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and the page requested) for security and reliability. A few small things are kept in your browser’s own storage, like your analytics choice and the last visitor number. They never leave your device.
